Ken Bass is the Chief Information Officer of Bass & Company where he lends his
expertise in Internet matters and encryption. He is also a lawyer in the firm of Venable, Baetjer,
Howard & Civiletti, LLP where he maintains offices in Washington, D.C. and Tysons
Corner, Virginia. He is a member of the bars of the District of Columbia and Virginia. Ken
also is a director of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers. For the past 20 years he
has practiced law in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, concentrating in civil
litigation and appellate advocacy. From 1977 until 1981 he left private practice to serve
as the first Counsel for Intelligence Policy at the Department of Justice. In that
position he advised the Attorney General and the White House on the legal aspects of a
variety of intelligence and national security matters. Ken is a frequent lecturer on using
the Internet in business.
Ken designed and created Venable's original WWW server in March, 1994. He is
