Duart

What is  Radio Duart Anyhow?

Radio Duart is an occasional Internet radio station maintained by Ken Bass, a distant descendant of the MacLeans.   Duart is the clan seat with the magnificent castle located on the Isle of Mull, off the western coast of Scotland near Oban.  For more information on the Clan Maclean, visit the clan website.  For more information on Radio Duart you can send an email to lachaber@hotmail.com.

On November 6, 1998, Shirley, Ken and our 23-year-old son Chris had the distinct privilege of attending the Annual Clan MacLean Dinner in Glasgow.  The next day, while most of the cousins were attending the Annual General Meeting to elect new officers, we played hooky.  Chris stayed in Glasgow while Shirley and Ken took a day trip to Mull to visit the Clan seat with an overnight stay in Oban.

Sir Lachlan and Lady MacLean had remained in Glasgow, so we were not able to go inside Duart, but we did enjoy visiting the grounds.  This site is a photographic record of our visit.
